Frequently Asked Questions

How do I record a journal entry? +
Open MindDrop and tap the large microphone button on the home screen. Speak freely for 30 to 120 seconds. When you are done, tap the stop button. MindDrop will automatically transcribe your words, analyze your mood locally, and save the entry.
Why is the mood analysis not accurate? +
Mood analysis uses on-device sentiment analysis, which works best with clear, spoken language. If the analysis seems off, try speaking more naturally and specifically about how you feel. Longer entries generally produce more accurate results. Note that mood analysis is for self-reflection purposes and is not a clinical tool.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Go to Settings on your iPhone, tap your Apple ID at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find MindDrop in the list and tap Cancel Subscription. You will keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device? +
Install MindDrop on your new device and sign in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. Go to Settings within the app and tap Restore Purchases. Your Premium subscription or lifetime purchase will be restored automatically.
Where is my data stored? +
All of your journal entries, mood data, and recordings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. If you delete the app, your data is permanently removed. We recommend using the Export feature in Settings to back up your journal entries.
Can I export my journal entries? +
Yes. Premium users can export their journal entries as a JSON or CSV file. Go to Settings in the app and tap Export Data. You can share the file via AirDrop, email, or save it to Files.
The app is not recognizing my speech correctly. +
MindDrop uses Apple's on-device Speech framework. For best results: speak clearly and at a moderate pace, minimize background noise, ensure your microphone is not obstructed, and check that you have granted microphone permission in Settings > MindDrop > Microphone. If issues persist, try restarting the app.
How do I request a refund? +
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the MindDrop purchase, and request a refund. Apple typically processes refund requests within 48 hours.
